Join Sarah, the Long Haul Yogi in weekly gentle restorative yoga specifically designed for those with chronic health conditions, such as Long Covid, POTS, ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, thyroid disorders etc. All of the classes are either seated or lying down, and designed to calm the nervous system and mind so that the body can enter the healing 'rest and digest' state - aka the parasympathetic nervous system. Sarah has successfully taught over 500 yoga students with Long Covid and other Chronic Conditions and is now turning her popular Zoom classes into carefully curated blocks of themed lessons. Each class is carefully paced to support exertion intolerance with optional suggestions, but please always listen carefully to your body.
In this block of classes, we will be exploring restorative yoga asanas, either seated or lying down, through the theme of the Spiritual Body - your connection to All That Is. This builds on the previous classes - on the Physical Body via systems, Subtle Energy and the Emotional and Mental Bodies. This completes the 'Bodies' series that we begin in 2023.
This group of six classes will explore different aspects of the 'Spiritual', such as self-love, self as a being of light, connection to your higher consciousness, connection to ancestors and to all beings, loosely based upon Yogic philosophy. Whilst this will be a non-denominational and fluid approach to working within your own sense of the spiritual, there will be some discussions of principles found in Yogic / Hindu or Buddhist traditions. You do not need to have any prior knowledge of yoga or yogic interpretations of the Spiritual Body in order to enjoy this course! No belief systems are required for this class - if you are atheist or agnostic, you will get just as much from this series too!
Each class will feature approximately 30-40 minutes of gentle stretching and movement, alongside 30 minutes of guided meditation relaxations, and at least 10 minutes at the end of each class for class members to have a community chat. Suitable for complete beginners through to other long haul yogis!
These sessions are conducted over Zoom. Unable to attend a session? All class attendees will receive replay recordings to keep post-session, forever!
